Luca Barbieri Viale is a full professor at the Math Department since 2008, but he taught at the Università di Padova, at the Università di Roma "La Sapienza" and at the Università di Genova. He authored many articles published in highly-cited journals, his research is in Hodge theory, algebraic cycles and the theory of motives; in the specific topic of 1-motives he contributed to the solution of Deligne's conjecture and he wrote an important monograph.
